City residents can show their support in kicking cancer to the curb by purchasing a pink garbage can.
Mammogram Funding
The City of Athens Sanitation Department and Athens-Limestone Hospital Foundation are selling breast cancer awareness garbage cans for $75. Proceeds will fund the Pink Elephant Mammogram Scholarship Fund for Limestone County residents who need a mammogram but don’t have insurance or insurance won’t fund it.
The 96-gallon rolling outdoor trash can works with the city’s automated garbage pickup truck and can be used just like the green garbage can residents already use. Once you order a pink garbage can, it will be delivered to your home.
County Residents
County residents can purchase a pink garbage can but will have to pick up the can at the city’s Sanitation Department at:
1600 W Elm Street
Athens, GA 35611
For county residents, there is a limit of 32 gallons per can or bag and a weight not to exceed 40 pounds per can or bag.
Other Uses
Other uses for the pink can include storage of Christmas decorations or to hold items for recycling.
