2014 Chili Challenge   Athens Police Department wins the Critic's Choice Award for the second consecutive year at the 2014 Chili Challenge to support Hospice.  The Honor Guard served chili while representing APD during this year's event. 


 Annual Golf Tournament

  It's springtime, and the Athens Police Reserves Golf Tournament is almost here!  Dust off your clubs and join three of your closest friends for a round of golf while supporting our reserve officers.  Our 4-man scramble will be at Souther Gayles Golf Course on May 9, 2014 at 1 pm.  We look forward to meeting you there and thank you for your support.

About us,

Athens Police Department is dedicated to the service of the our residents, local businesses, and visitors.  Chief Floyd Johnson leads a department of 46 sworn officers, up to 20 reserve officers, 7 dispatchers, and 3 administrative staff.   Since crime prevention is our first priority, officers vigorously patrol neighborhoods and business districts 24 hours each day.  Some of the many services provided by Athens Police Department include residence checks while homeowners are out of town, traffic enforcement, criminal investigation, and traffic control for special events.  

Homeowners going out of town are encouraged to come to Athens Police Department and complete a residence check form.  During your absence, officers will conduct extra patrols at your home and notify you if any problems are discovered.
