Giving Back

Throughout the year, Athens Fire and its auxiliary support a variety of community endeavors. If you would like to donate to any of these efforts, you can mail a check made out to Athens Fire and Rescue Auxiliary and send to AFR at P.O. Box 1089, Athens, AL 35612. Please note which effort your donation is supporting.
  • Fill the Boot for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, year round.
  • Shop with a Firefighter at Christmas. Students recommended by local schools shop for necessities and toys.
  • Trunk or Treat on The Square, a collaboration with Athens Police, Limestone Sheriff, etc., to give children the opportunity to trick-or-treat with first responders.

Athens Professional Firefighters Association and the Athens Police Department will host a Community Tailgate Day on Oct. 21. It will support Athens-Limestone Hospital Foundation’s Pink Elephant Fund, which provides mammogram scholarships. This event will also support the cost for an Athens police officer to purchase a service animal for his child who has autism and experiences seizures.
